Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park offers more than a summit view. Begin at the visitor center, 900 Kennesaw Mountain Drive, to understand the 1864 Atlanta Campaign through exhibits before choosing a route. The National Park Service lists visitor center hours as 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

For a mountain walk, the official trail map lists the visitor-center-to-summit west trail at one mile each way. Other routes reach Pigeon Hill and Cheatham Hill. Stay on marked trails, carry water and allow time for the return. Dogs may use trails on a handheld leash no longer than six feet.

The mountaintop road is closed to personal vehicles. The park offers a free shuttle, subject to its current schedule. Its fee page lists a $5 daily vehicle pass, and parking lots have posted closing hours. Check current conditions before leaving home.

Kennesaw's Senior Pop Up Wednesdays program is offering a Fall Candle Making Class on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ben Robertson Community Center.

The city says participants will make two candles in 11-ounce containers using plant-based vegan soy wax, wicks and natural essential oils. Lessons are included as part of the hands-on activity.

The workshop offers local seniors a creative midweek outing and an opportunity to connect with neighbors while learning about candle making.

The community center is located at 2753 Watts Drive in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Residents interested in attending should check the City of Kennesaw's official event listing for any updates and confirm registration requirements, fees, availability and accommodations before arriving.

The class is part of the city's broader senior programming, which also includes recurring social and recreational activities at the community center.
